Talking about the Ronettes and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame... the induction ceremony will take place at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in New York City March 12. We have just been informed that the actual presentation to the Ronettes will be made by Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones.
Keith is an old friend of Nedra’s and mine from way back. The Ronettes initially met and toured as headliners with the Stones in England.
I too have a lot of history with these guys. I was close to Brian Jones who originally formed the group. Brian, who I considered the most talented member of the rock band, was a close friend; he died tragically years ago in a drowning incident that may have been drug related. Another close friend Bill Wyman, the Stones bass-guitar player, left the group and is now producing his own music in England. I MC’d a number of concerts with the Stones, and I have prayed for them over the years.
